Running FadedClouds Shaders Smoothly on a Low-End or Potato PC
FadedClouds Shaders is designed to run smoothly on weak computers and potato setups. It only adds lightweight post-processing and keeps the vanilla look, rather than adding heavy effects. If your frame rate still dips, the cause is usually your general game settings, not the pack itself.
Check the pack first
1. Make sure FadedClouds Shaders is the only shader pack selected under Options → Video Settings → Shader Packs.
2. If you were using a heavier shader pack before, confirm it's no longer active. Switching to this pack should feel much lighter.
Tune your vanilla video settings
These are standard settings every player has:
1. Render Distance: this is the biggest performance factor. Lower it step by step until the game feels smooth.
2. Simulation Distance: lowering it reduces load in busy worlds.
3. Graphics: try a faster mode if you're struggling.
4. Max Framerate and VSync: set these to suit your monitor so the game doesn't waste effort.
5. Particles and Entity Distance: reducing these helps in crowded areas.
Keep the clouds
Avoid turning Clouds to Off just for performance. The point of this pack is the soft cloud fade, and with clouds disabled you lose its main feature. Lower render distance or particles first.
If you're still unsure whether the shader is costing you frames, compare your FPS with shaders on and off in the same spot. On low-end hardware, the difference with this pack should be small.
