Getting the Smooth Cloud Fade to Show on the Horizon

The headline feature of FadedClouds Shaders is that standard Minecraft clouds fade gently toward the horizon instead of cutting off sharply. If you've enabled the pack but can't see the effect, check these settings.

Make sure clouds are actually rendering

1. Open Options → Video Settings.

2. Find the Clouds option and make sure it is not set to Off. The pack fades the default sky clouds, so if vanilla clouds are disabled there is nothing to fade.

3. Confirm the shader pack is still selected under Shader Packs and that shaders are enabled.

Find a good spot to see it

1. Head somewhere with an open view, such as a beach, plains, or a mountaintop.

2. Look straight out toward the horizon rather than up. The fade happens at the far edge of the cloud layer.

3.

Experiment with render distance

In vanilla, how far the cloud layer stretches depends on your render distance. If the fade looks cramped or too close, try raising Render Distance a little in Video Settings and look again. If you're on a weak PC, find a balance you're comfortable with.

To see the difference clearly, toggle shaders off and on while looking at the same patch of sky. Without the pack, the clouds stop at a hard line. With it, they soften away into the distance.
