Fix a Look You Don't Like in Extraterrestrial Expanse (Too Bright, Too Busy, or Too Dark)

Extraterrestrial Expanse balances fantasy color tones with semi-realistic lighting. Not every player wants the exact default look, though. Here's how to adjust the common complaints.

Open the pack's options

1. Go to Options → Video Settings → Shader Packs.

2. Select Extraterrestrial Expanse Shaders and open its settings screen.

3. After each change, apply it and return to your world to compare.

Common adjustments

  • Bloom feels overpowering: Look for bloom options and lower the strength, or turn bloom off. This calms glare around the sky and light sources.
  • Swaying plants are distracting: Find the foliage or waving-plant setting and disable it. Grass and leaves will stay still.
  • Shadows look too heavy or too soft: Adjust the shadow options in the pack menu. Raising shadow quality usually sharpens detail.
  • World is too dark: Raise vanilla Brightness in Video Settings first. Then check the pack menu for lighting or ambient options.
  • Water reflections are distracting: Lower or disable the reflection options.

Reset if you get lost

If you've changed too many things, look for a reset option in the pack's settings to restore its defaults. Alternatively, switch to another shader pack and back. If the pack still looks wrong, select Off in the Shader Packs menu to confirm your problem is the shader and not a resource pack.
