Extraterrestrial Expanse Shaders FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on Extraterrestrial Expanse Shaders?
Open your shader loader's Shader Packs menu from Video Settings, select Extraterrestrial Expanse, and apply it. Look for soft shadows under trees and blocks and for reflections on nearby water. If you see them, the pack is running.
I installed it but it's not in my mods list, is it broken?
No, that's expected. It's a shader pack, not a regular mod, so it never appears in the mods list. You'll find it in the shader pack menu of your shader loader.
Does the server need Extraterrestrial Expanse too?
No. Shaders are purely client-side visuals, so only your own game needs the pack. You can use it on any server, and other players won't see your shader effects.
Will Extraterrestrial Expanse run on my PC?
The pack is built with settings suited to medium and high-end setups. A mid-range PC can run it well with some tuning. Very low-end machines or basic integrated graphics may struggle to keep a smooth frame rate.
My FPS dropped a lot after enabling the shaders, what should I lower first?
Start with render distance and shadow quality, since shadows are usually the heaviest part of a shader pack. If you still need more frames, turn down other demanding visual effects in the pack's options and test one change at a time.
Why is the grass and leaves moving on their own?
That's the pack's moving foliage feature, not a bug. It adds subtle motion to grass, leaves, and other plants. If it feels too busy, check the shader options for a foliage motion setting.
Everything looks way too bright and glowy, how do I fix it?
The glow comes from the pack's bloom effect, which brightens light sources and the open sky. Lower your in-game brightness first, then reduce bloom in the shader options if the pack provides it.
Why don't I see reflections on the water?
Make sure the shader pack is actually enabled, then look across a body of water at a shallow angle, where reflections show up most clearly. Shiny surfaces reflect too, but water bodies show the effect best.
Does Extraterrestrial Expanse add any new blocks, items, or biomes?
No, it only changes how the game looks: lighting, shadows, bloom, reflections, and foliage motion. Your world, items, and gameplay stay exactly the same, so you can turn it off anytime without affecting your save.
Can I use Extraterrestrial Expanse with a resource pack?
Generally yes. The resource pack changes block textures while the shader handles lighting, shadows, and reflections on top of them. Some texture packs may look brighter or darker under the pack's fantasy color tones, so check a few biomes after combining them.
