Troubleshoot Flickering or Uneven Lighting
Common Causes
Shadow Banding: Visible bands or stripes in shadow areas often occur when shadow resolution is too low or when moving between lit and unlit zones quickly.
Uneven Ambient Light: If some areas feel unnaturally bright or dark compared to neighbors, the shader's light calculation may need adjustment.
Steps to Fix
1. Open Shader Options and locate Shadow Resolution or Shadow Quality. Increase it slightly—higher resolution reduces banding.
2. Check Ambient Light Smoothing or similar settings. Enable it if available; this reduces harsh transitions between light levels.
3. Verify your Brightness/Gamma isn't set to extremes. Reset to default and adjust gradually.
4. Move away from the problematic area and return. Some flickering is temporary and resolves as chunks load.
If Issues Persist
Flickering near water or transparent blocks sometimes occurs due to shader interaction with specific blocks. Try disabling water reflections temporarily to isolate the cause. Report persistent issues with your exact hardware and settings for targeted help.
