Get Better Visibility in Dark Caves and Mines

Understand the Shader's Lighting Model

Danix Low End Shaders improves cave visibility through enhanced ambient lighting and softer shadow transitions. However, caves are still intentionally darker than the surface.

Optimize Your Setup

Use Torches Strategically: Place torches every 8–12 blocks along your mining routes. The shader's realistic lighting makes torch placement more impactful than vanilla—light spreads more naturally and creates visible shadows.

Adjust Gamma (if available): Some versions allow brightness tweaking in shader options. Increase ambient light slightly, but avoid maxing it out—this defeats the atmospheric purpose.

Bring Extra Light Sources: Lanterns, soul lanterns, and glowstone are more visually distinct under this shader. Use them to mark important areas or create safe zones.

Gameplay Tip

The shader's soft shadows mean you won't miss ore blocks or mobs in dim light the way you might in vanilla. Trust the improved contrast—caves are meant to feel atmospheric, not pitch-black.
