Troubleshoot Outlines Not Appearing or Looking Wrong
Verify Shader is Active
Confirm the shader pack is enabled in Video Settings > Shaders. The shader name should appear with a checkmark or highlight. If it's listed but inactive, click it to enable.
Check Outline Settings
Open shader options and verify:
- Outline intensity is not set to zero or minimum
- Outline thickness is not disabled
- The feature isn't toggled off in advanced options
Increase these values and test in-game.
Restart the Game
Shader changes sometimes require a full game restart to apply properly. Close Minecraft completely and relaunch.
Verify Compatibility
Ensure you're using a compatible shader loader (Optifine or Iris). Mismatched loaders prevent shaders from functioning. If using Iris, confirm your graphics driver is up to date.
Test in Different Locations
Outlines may be subtle in bright daylight. Visit caves or night areas where they're more visible. If outlines appear only in certain lighting, your settings are working—adjust intensity to make them visible everywhere.
If problems persist, try resetting shader settings to defaults and reconfiguring from scratch.
