Capturing Cursed Screenshots and Clips with Cosinus Shaders

Cosinus overlays blocky vanilla scenery with strange, cosine-based wave effects, and the results make good screenshots and videos. A few habits will help you get the best shots.

Picking scenes that show off the waves

Because the pack keeps vanilla blocks and lighting, the distortion is easiest to notice on familiar, regular shapes:

1. Long straight lines: Look down rows of crops, fences, paths, or the edge of a large build. The waves stand out most against geometry that should be straight.

2. Wide open views: Climb a hill or tower and look across the landscape. This lets the effect stretch over plenty of terrain.

3. Recognisable builds: Your base, a village, or a famous structure looks especially cursed when it bends in ways players do not expect.

Taking the shot

1. Press F1 to hide the HUD for a clean image.

2. Press F2 to save a screenshot to your screenshots folder.

3. Use F5 to switch to third-person views for shots that include your character.

4. For a before-and-after comparison, take one shot with Cosinus on. Then set shaders to Off in Video Settings > Shader Packs and take a second shot from the same spot.

The pack is light enough to stay smooth on low-end hardware, so recording a clip of the effect in motion should not drag your frame rate down much.
