See Clearly at Night and Underground with ColorFul Optimized

ColorFul Optimized cleans up world lighting so you can see clearly both day and night. It keeps the vanilla feel, though, so dark places can still be dark. Here's how to get comfortable visibility.

Adjust brightness for your screen

1. Go to Options → Video Settings and find the vanilla Brightness slider.

2. Stand somewhere at night or in a dim cave, then pause and raise the slider until you can make out block edges comfortably.

3. Check the result in daylight too. Make sure the vivid colors don't look washed out on bright terrain.

4. If the shader pack has its own settings screen in your loader's Shader Packs menu, look there for any lighting or brightness controls. Change one thing at a time and compare before and after.

Light up the world the vanilla way

The pack works on top of normal Minecraft lighting, so in-game light sources still matter:

  • Place torches or lanterns along tunnels and around your base. The pack's richer colors make lit areas easy to read.
  • Carry a torch in your off-hand while caving to light spots quickly.
  • For night travel, a Potion of Night Vision works as usual.

If night still feels too dark on a specific monitor, raise your monitor's own brightness rather than pushing every in-game slider to the max.
