Optimize Performance While Using Retro Shaders
Shader-Specific Settings
Open Shader Options and disable any advanced features you don't need—such as shadow mapping, ambient occlusion, or reflections. Retro shaders typically have fewer intensive features than modern ones, but disabling extras helps.
Resolution Trade-offs
Increasing pixelation actually improves performance because the shader has less fine detail to process. If you're struggling with framerate, boost the pixelation slider—your game will run faster and look more authentically retro.
General Optimization
Reduce render distance if needed, lower your base game graphics settings, and close background applications. Shaders are GPU-intensive regardless of style.
Testing Changes
After adjusting any setting, spend a few minutes in varied terrain—caves, forests, open sky—to measure real-world performance. Framerate can vary significantly depending on what you're looking at.
