Enhance Water Reflections and Clarity
Open Water Settings
Access the shader configuration menu in-game. Navigate to the water or visual effects section where reflection and transparency options are located.
Configure Reflection Quality
Adjust the following settings to improve how water looks:
- Reflection strength: Controls how clearly the sky, clouds, and nearby blocks mirror on the water surface. Higher values make reflections more prominent.
- Water transparency: Increases clarity so you can see deeper into oceans and rivers. This reveals underwater terrain and objects more vividly.
- Wave intensity: Adjusts surface ripples and movement, affecting both visual realism and reflection distortion.
Optimize for Your Hardware
Water reflections are performance-intensive. If you experience frame rate drops near large bodies of water, reduce reflection strength or lower the reflection resolution. For low-end systems, disable advanced reflections entirely and rely on transparency alone for visual depth.
Visit different water types—oceans, rivers, and rain—to see how your settings affect each. Calm water shows reflections best, while moving water benefits from wave effects.
