Balance Performance and Visual Quality
Identify Performance Bottlenecks
Open the shader menu and note which settings have the largest performance impact. Typically, shadow distance, reflection quality, and light radius consume the most resources. Use your frame counter (F3 in vanilla Minecraft) to monitor FPS before and after changes.
Create a Performance Profile
Start by reducing the most demanding settings:
1. Lower shadow distance to medium range
2. Reduce reflection strength or disable advanced reflections
3. Decrease light radius to affect only nearby blocks
4. Lower overall shadow softness if needed
Test gameplay in demanding areas: dense forests, large caves, and ocean views. If FPS remains low, disable features one at a time until performance improves.
Fine-Tune for Your System
Once stable, gradually increase individual settings to find your balance. Mid-range PCs often handle full settings well; low-end systems may need to disable reflections or use minimal shadows. Remember that Cealith is designed to run smoothly on budget hardware—you can achieve good visuals even with several settings reduced. Save your preferred configuration and adjust only when exploring new areas or upgrading your hardware.
