Turn On Carrot Shaders with Iris or OptiFine and Confirm It's Working
Carrot Shaders is a shader pack, so it needs a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine to run. Shader packs go in the shaderpacks folder in your Minecraft game directory, not the resourcepacks folder.
Loading the pack
1. Launch the game with Iris or OptiFine active.
2. Open Options → Video Settings.
- Iris: click Shader Packs.
- OptiFine: click Shaders.
3. If Carrot Shaders isn't listed, use the button that opens the shader pack folder. Put the pack file there, then return to the menu so the list refreshes.
4. Select Carrot Shaders from the list.
5. The screen may freeze for a moment.
Checking that it loaded correctly
Step into an open area during the day and look for these signs:
- Soft shadows fall across blocks and terrain. Trees, walls and hills should cast clean, gentle shadows instead of none at all.
- Warm sunlight lights up outdoor areas, especially around sunrise and midday.
- Block colors still look like vanilla. Grass, stone and wood keep their natural tones.
- Water looks slightly transparent and catches subtle light reflections.
If the world looks exactly like it did before, reopen the shader menu. Make sure Carrot Shaders is selected and not set to off or internal. Some setups only finish loading the pack after you rejoin your world.
