Take Great Screenshots with Carrot Shaders' Sunlight, Shadows and Water

Carrot Shaders is designed around soft shadows, warm sunlight, natural vanilla colors and subtle water reflections. Timing your shots and framing around these features gives the best results.

Picking the right time and place

1. Shoot at sunrise. The pack paints warm sunlight across outdoor areas at sunrise, which makes landscapes glow. Midday also gets that warm tone.

2. Look for shadow detail. Frame trees, overhangs, fences or builds with depth. The clean, soft shadows really show on uneven terrain and textured walls.

3. Use water. Rivers, lakes and oceans show off the subtle transparency and light reflections. Low camera angles near the surface catch the reflections best.

4. Show off your builds' true colors. Block colors stay close to vanilla, so your palette choices look the way you intended.

Capturing the shot

  • Hide the HUD with F1 for a clean frame.
  • Take the screenshot with F2. It saves to the screenshots folder in your game directory.
  • Use slash commands to control the time and weather. If you have cheats enabled, /time set lets you return to sunrise repeatedly, and /weather clear keeps the sky open.
  • Raise Render Distance temporarily for wide landscape shots, then lower it again afterward if performance drops.
  • Try a night shot too. Night scenes stay clear in this pack, so moonlit builds can still be captured without the scene looking flat.
