Reduce Lag and Improve Frame Rate with Shader Options
Lower Shadow Quality
Open shader settings and find shadow-related options. Reduce shadow distance or shadow map resolution—these are common performance drains. Lower values mean fewer detailed shadows but significantly smoother gameplay.
Disable or Reduce Advanced Effects
Look for toggles for ambient occlusion, parallax mapping, or volumetric lighting. Disabling these effects can free up GPU resources. Start by turning off the most demanding feature and test frame rate.
Adjust Water and Reflection Settings
Water reflections and refractions are visually expensive. Lower reflection quality or disable reflections in distant water to gain frames without losing the shader's core appeal.
Monitor Performance
Enable the F3 debug screen to watch FPS in real time. Make one change at a time and observe the impact. Even small reductions in shadow quality or effect intensity can yield noticeable frame rate improvements on mid-range systems.
