Troubleshoot Common Visual Issues
Flickering or Unstable Shadows
If shadows flicker or appear unstable:
- Check your frame rate: Shadows may become unstable if FPS drops significantly. Lower shadow quality in shader settings.
- Verify Iris is updated: Beyond Horizons depends on Iris shader loader. Ensure Iris is the latest compatible version.
- Reduce shadow distance: Shadows that extend too far can cause performance issues. Lower this setting in the shader menu.
Incorrect Lighting or Dark Spots
- Reload chunks: Press
F3 + Ato reload all chunks. Sometimes lighting calculations need a refresh. - Check time of day: Lighting changes dramatically between day and night.
- Verify block placement: Some blocks may not interact with the shader's lighting as expected. Try replacing nearby blocks.
Performance Drops in Specific Areas
Certain biomes or structures with many glowing blocks can cause frame rate dips. If a location runs poorly:
- Reduce shadow quality temporarily while in that area.
- Lower render distance slightly.
- Return to shader settings and disable volumetric effects if available.
These adjustments are temporary—you can restore settings elsewhere.
