Switching Between Bad Shaders and Your Normal Look
Bad Shaders is a fun visual gag, but you may not want Bad Apple playing overhead all the time. You might prefer your usual shader pack for serious building, or plain vanilla visuals for performance. Switching is quick.
Turn Bad Shaders off
1. Open Options > Video Settings > Shader Packs.
2. Select the option for no shaders (usually labeled Off or None, depending on your loader).
3. Click Apply or Done. Your sky returns to the standard blocky clouds.
Swap to another shader pack
Shader loaders run only one pack at a time, so you can't layer Bad Shaders on top of another pack.
1. Open the Shader Packs screen.
2. Select your other pack and apply it. This replaces Bad Shaders completely.
3. When you want the meme back, return to the same screen and select Bad Shaders again.
Tips for switching often
- Keep both packs in your shader packs folder so you can swap without moving files.
- Some loaders have a hotkey for toggling shaders on and off. Check Options > Controls to see if yours does, and rebind it to a key you won't press by accident.
- Bad Shaders keeps its core lighting simple. If you notice your world looks flatter than it does with a more detailed pack, that's expected. The pack is built around the sky animation, not realistic lighting.
- Your worlds aren't changed by switching. The shader only affects how the game looks, so you can flip back and forth freely.
