Getting the Best View of the Bad Apple Cloud Animation

The video plays on the clouds, so how well you can see it depends on where you stand and what's around you. These steps help you get a clear, full view.

Set up your viewing spot

1. Stay in the Overworld. The Nether and the End have no clouds, so the animation has nowhere to appear there.

2. Get out from under cover. Trees, roofs and overhangs block your view of the sky. Plains, deserts and oceans give you wide, open sightlines.

3. Build a viewing platform. Pillar up or build a small tower so nearby terrain and trees don't cut into the edges of the sky.

4. Pick clear weather. Rain and storms darken the sky and can make the black-and-white frames harder to read.

5. Check your cloud setting. In Options > Video Settings, make sure clouds aren't turned off. The animation replaces cloud rendering, so if clouds are disabled, there may be nothing to show.

Capture the meme

1. Press F1 to hide your hotbar and crosshair for a clean view.

2. Lie on your back in-game by looking straight up, and let the frames play overhead.

3. Press F2 to take a screenshot. Screenshots are saved to your screenshots folder.

4. Press F1 again to bring your HUD back.

The pack keeps the rest of the lighting simple, so the sky animation is the main thing that stands out in your shots.
