Fixing Bad Shaders When the Video Doesn't Show in the Sky

If you've turned the pack on but you're still seeing normal clouds, or no clouds at all, work through these checks in order.

Check the pack is loading

1. Confirm you have a shader loader. Bad Shaders is a shader, so it won't do anything without Iris or OptiFine. If there's no Shader Packs button in your video settings, you don't have a loader running.

2. Check the folder. Shader packs go in the shader packs folder. If you put the file in resourcepacks, it won't work as a shader. Move it, then reopen the Shader Packs screen.

3. Confirm it's selected. Only one shader pack runs at a time. Make sure Bad Shaders is highlighted as the active pack, not another pack or "off", and that you clicked Apply.

4. Check whether shaders are toggled off. Some loaders have a hotkey that switches shaders on and off. Look in Options > Controls for a shader toggle in case you pressed it by accident.

Check the sky itself

1. Turn clouds on. Open Options > Video Settings and make sure clouds aren't disabled. The animation is drawn where the clouds are.

2. Go to the Overworld. The Nether and the End don't have clouds.

3. **Get a clear view.

4. Watch for a while. The video plays frame by frame on a loop, so give it a few moments of looking straight up.

If it still doesn't appear after all of this, reload the pack by selecting a different option and then selecting Bad Shaders again.
