Turn On Aloo Shaders and Confirm It's Working

Aloo Shaders is a shader pack, so it runs through a shader loader such as Iris or OptiFine. It does not go in the resourcepacks folder.

Select the pack

1. Make sure the pack file is in your shaderpacks folder inside the Minecraft game directory.

2. Launch the game and open Options → Video Settings → Shader Packs. With Iris, the button may simply be labelled Shader Packs in the video menu.

3. Click AlooShaders in the list so it is highlighted, then click Apply or Done.

4. The screen may freeze briefly the first time.

Check that it is active

The pack keeps the original block textures, so the change is in the lighting rather than the blocks. Check for these signs:

  • Shadows: Stand near a tree or one of your builds in daylight. Shadows should look softer than plain vanilla.
  • Block lights: Place a torch, lantern or glowstone block in a dark spot. The light should look noticeably warmer.

Day and night should each have a distinct mood.

  • Overall clarity: The world should look brighter and clearer, while staying blocky.

If everything still looks exactly like vanilla, go back to the Shader Packs screen. Confirm that AlooShaders is the selected pack and that shaders are not switched off in your loader.
