Explore Caves and Dark Forests at Night with Aloo Shaders
One of Aloo Shaders' goals is to keep exploration simple in dark places. It adjusts outdoor visibility so caves and dark forests stay readable. Here is how to make the most of that while adventuring.
Before you head out
1. Confirm AlooShaders is selected in your loader's Shader Packs menu.
2. Bring torches or lanterns anyway. The pack improves visibility, but it does not change how mobs spawn in the dark.
3. Check your vanilla Brightness slider in Video Settings. The pack's look sits on top of it, so set it to a level that feels comfortable.
While exploring
- Dark forests: The canopy blocks much of the sun. Thanks to the adjusted outdoor visibility, you should still be able to make out paths and tree trunks. Use the softened shadows to spot openings and clearings.
- Cave entrances: Stop at the mouth of a cave and let your eyes adjust to the contrast between sunlight and the dark interior. Place a torch just inside. Its warmer glow makes a clear marker you can spot on the way back.
- Night travel: The moonlight ambiance differs from daytime. Learn how your usual landmarks look at night so you don't get lost.
- Marking routes: Lanterns and glowstone get the same warm color as torches. This makes lit trails stand out against cooler moonlit terrain.
