Reduce Lag While Maintaining Visual Quality

Identify Performance Bottlenecks

Open the shader menu and look for a performance or optimization section. Check which features are most demanding—typically shadows, reflections, and water effects consume the most resources.

Disable Non-Essential Effects

Toggle off advanced features you don't need: volumetric lighting, bloom effects, or depth-of-field. Disabling even one can provide noticeable frame rate improvements.

Lower Render Distance for Shaders

Some shaders have separate render distance settings from vanilla Minecraft. Reduce the shader-specific distance to decrease the area where complex effects are calculated.

Reduce Texture and Detail Settings

Decreasing parallax or detail texture quality reduces GPU load. These settings often have minimal visual impact but significant performance benefits.

Use Performance Presets

Many shader packs include preset configurations labeled "Low," "Medium," or "High." Start with a lower preset and gradually increase settings until you reach your target frame rate.

Monitor Frame Rate

Use an FPS counter (F3 in vanilla Minecraft) to track performance changes. Test in demanding areas like dense forests or large structures to ensure stability across different environments.
