Keep Frame Rates Smooth With Aalu on a Budget PC

Aalu is built to run fast on low-end computers without heavy lag spikes. If your frame rate still dips, a few vanilla and loader settings usually fix it. You can keep the shadows and water effects while doing so.

Tune the Vanilla Video Settings First

1. Open Options > Video Settings.

2. Lower Render Distance a few chunks at a time. This is usually the biggest performance win with any shader pack.

3. Reduce Simulation Distance if your world has lots of farms or mobs.

4. Turn off or lower Clouds and Particles, which you may not miss.

5. Set Max Framerate to match your monitor so the GPU isn't overworking.

Use the Shader Menu Options

  • Open the shader menu (Shader Packs on Iris, Shaders on OptiFine). If the pack offers its own settings screen there, look for shadow- or quality-related options and step them down one at a time.
  • Shadows are usually the heaviest part of any shader. If you only need a little more speed, reduce shadow-related settings before turning the pack off entirely.
  • Test each change in the same spot, such as a forest or village, so you can compare fairly.

If frame drops only happen in one area, the cause is often the area itself, like a huge redstone build or a large mob farm, rather than the shaders.
