Reading Biome Labels
The Rename Compat Project renames biomes from major world-generation mods so you always know which mod created the terrain around you.
Steps:
1. Open your map or use a biome-detection tool (if your modpack includes one)
2. Look at the biome name displayed — it now includes the source mod
3. Biomes from Biomes O' Plenty and Terralith are clearly labeled with their mod origin
4. Underground biomes from Spelunkery and Darker Depths also receive distinct names
Why This Matters
Knowing your biome's source helps you:
- Locate specific blocks or ores unique to that mod's generation
- Understand which mobs naturally spawn in your area
- Plan mining routes based on mod-specific ore distributions
- Navigate modpacks with multiple world-gen mods without confusion
Biome names appear consistently in F3 debug screens, maps, and advancement text, making navigation and exploration much clearer across large modpacks.
