Compare the Rounded Shield With Vanilla and Know What Others See

Before you commit to the new look, compare it side by side with the vanilla shield. It also helps to understand who else can see it.

Quick before-and-after comparison

1. Stand somewhere well lit and hold a shield in your off-hand.

2. Take note of the rounded shape, both idle and raised with right-click.

3. Open Options, then Resource Packs. Move the shield pack back to Available and click Done.

4. Look at the shield again to see the standard boxy model, then raise it to compare the blocking pose.

5. Re-enable the pack the same way and pick whichever look you prefer.

6. Repeat in third person (F5) if the outside view matters to you, for example when recording.

Who sees the rounded shield

  • Resource packs only change what your game displays. On a multiplayer server, other players see the rounded shield only if they have the pack enabled too.
  • With the pack on, other players' shields will also show the rounded design on your screen, since your client draws every shield model.
  • Gameplay is unaffected. Blocking works exactly as it does in vanilla, and only the shield's appearance changes.

If you play with friends and want everyone to share the look, have each person add the pack to their own resourcepacks folder and enable it.
