How do I get started with worldedit?
Give yourself the wand item (usually via the //wand command) and left-click one corner of the area you want to edit, then right-click the opposite corner. Once you have a selection, run a command like //set or //replace to change the blocks inside it.
What's the difference between left click and right click with the wand?
Left-clicking a block sets your first position, and right-clicking sets your second position. Together these two corners define the cuboid region that all your commands will affect.
How do I select a region that isn't a box?
Use the selection commands like //hpos1 and //hpos2 to set corners where you're looking, or switch to a polygonal or convex selection mode with //sel. Non-cuboid selections let you match irregular shapes before running edits.
How do I undo a worldedit command I messed up?
Type //undo to reverse your last edit. You can keep running //undo to step back through previous operations, and //redo brings them forward again if you change your mind.
Why does worldedit say I don't have permission?
On a server, WorldEdit commands are gated behind permission nodes that admins control. If you're not op or don't have the right permissions, ask the server owner to grant them or check whether a plugin is restricting your access.
How do I copy and paste a build somewhere else?
Select the build, run //copy, then move to where you want it and run //paste. You can rotate or flip the clipboard with //rotate and //flip before pasting.
What are brushes and how do I use them?
Brushes let you apply an edit repeatedly as you right-click or left-click, instead of running a command each time. Bind one with /brush followed by the brush type and its settings, then click in the world to paint terrain.
Why did my worldedit command do nothing?
The most common causes are an empty or invalid selection, a block limit that your edit exceeds, or a typo in the command. Re-check your selection with //size and confirm the block names you used are valid.
Is worldedit safe to use on a server with other players?
Yes, but large edits can lag the server and affect other players' builds. Use it carefully, respect any region protections, and coordinate with admins before making big changes.
Does worldedit work with other mods and plugins?
WorldEdit generally works alongside most building and protection mods, though some blocks from other mods may not be recognized by every command. If a command fails on modded blocks, try selecting and editing with vanilla blocks first to confirm the tool is working.
What does the WorldEdit mod do?
It is a server-side building toolset that lets you edit terrain in bulk using commands, selections, and brushes. You can create, replace, or delete tens of thousands of blocks, copy and paste areas, and save builds as schematics.
What does WorldEdit add?
It adds commands, selections, schematics, copy and paste, brushes, and scripting for editing the world in-game. It also supports complex deformations and mathematical expressions for terrain generation.
Which Minecraft versions does WorldEdit support?
The Modrinth project page lists Minecraft versions 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2, and 26.3.
What mod loaders does WorldEdit work with?
It works with bukkit, fabric, folia, forge, neoforge, paper, quilt, and spigot. The author notes it is compatible with NeoForge, Fabric, and Bukkit-based platforms such as Spigot and Paper.
Does WorldEdit work on Bedrock?
No. WorldEdit requires the Java version of Minecraft and does not support Bedrock.
Do I need cheats on to use WorldEdit?
In single player, cheats must be enabled for the world to use WorldEdit, though this can be changed in the configuration. On a server, only opped users can use it by default, which can also be changed.
Can anyone use WorldEdit on a server?
On servers, only opped users or users with permissions supplied by a permissions plugin can use WorldEdit. On LAN, anyone can use it if cheats are enabled.
Does WorldEdit add new items or blocks?
No. WorldEdit is a map editor that works with existing blocks, using commands, brushes, and schematics rather than adding new items or blocks.
What is the /jumpto command in WorldEdit?
The /jumpto command lets you teleport easily around the world. You can also use your compass to quickly teleport to areas by left clicking.
