Read the Sky: Predict Rain and Storms from the Clouds

With Super Fancy Clouds Refabricated, clouds are more than decoration. They react to biomes, weather and terrain, so you can read the sky before heading out to explore or build.

Spotting Rain and Storms

  • Rain only falls where clouds are overhead. If the sky above you is clear, you stay dry, even while it rains nearby. Walk out from under a cloud bank to escape a shower.
  • Dark undersides mean trouble. Cloud bottoms turn darker as clouds grow thick and stormy. A darkening sky is your cue to head for shelter.
  • Weather thickens clouds. As weather changes, clouds grow denser, so a building cloud layer signals worsening conditions.

Reading Biomes and Terrain

1. Clouds are placed chunk by chunk to suit the local biome. Expect the sky to change as you cross from one biome into another.

2. Clouds bend around tall mountains and custom structures instead of clipping through them. Tall builds won't get swallowed by clouds slicing through their walls.

3. Dawn and dusk tint the clouds pink and gold. Use this as a visual clock while you play.

If the Sky Looks Wrong

  • The mod fixes flickering when you cross chunk borders. It also keeps clouds from disappearing during long sessions.
  • If clouds seem missing or thin everywhere, open the config menu and check the density and biome settings.
  • On a server, type /sfcr help to see the server's cloud controls.
