How do I change what my Stargate looks like with this mod?
Craft the variant crystal for the design you want, then place it into your portal frame to apply that design. Open Just Enough Items (JEI) to see the recipe for each crystal.
Do I need Stargate Journey installed for this to work?
Yes. This is an addon that adds new looks for Stargate Journey's gates and transport rings, so it needs Stargate Journey installed.
Where do I find the crafting recipes for the gate crystals?
Look up the crystal in Just Enough Items (JEI) to see its recipe. The recipes link into other mods, so JEI is the reliable way to see what each crystal needs in your modpack.
What is the Apex Core and do I need it?
The Apex Core is a crafting component used to build high-tier gate frames. You only need it for Apex-tier portals. Check JEI for its recipe.
Why can't I craft the Jumpgate, Quantum, or Silence variants?
Some designs use parts from other mods. Apex and Quantum need Mekanism, Jumpgate and Streamline use Ad Astra materials, Retrogate and Spatial use Applied Energistics 2 parts, and Silence needs Deeper and Darker items. If you don't have the right mod or haven't made its parts yet, you can't complete the recipe.
Which gate designs need the Create mod?
The Create Milky Way variant uses brass and cogwheel styling that matches Create machinery. There is also a Create-themed Universe gate with a kinetic gear design. Check JEI to confirm the exact Create parts each crystal uses.
Are there gate designs I can make without any tech mods?
Several designs have themes that don't point to another mod, such as Crafter (a vanilla workbench theme), Mossy, End, Nether, Bloodgate, and Makeshift. Check each crystal's recipe in JEI to be sure which ones need only the base mods in your pack.
How many gate designs does this addon add?
It adds thirty-one portal designs spread across four main gate types, including Milky Way, Pegasus, and Universe-style gates. Each design comes with its own textures, sounds, item icons, and gate symbols.
Does this mod change how Stargates work, or only how they look?
The variants are themed reskins that change the frame's textures, sounds, and symbols. Icarus, for example, uses the base frame with a custom point of origin symbol. Travel between dimensions still uses Stargate Journey's own gate system.
Do I install this on the server, the client, or both?
Install it on both. The mod adds items, crafting recipes, textures, and sounds, so the server and every player need the same copy of the mod and of Stargate Journey.
