How to Get Cooked Porkchops by Launching Pigs with Fireworks

Launching a pig with a firework rocket cooks its meat on the way down, so you get cooked porkchops without a furnace or fuel.

Launching the Pig

1. Put a firework rocket in your main hand.

2. Make sure your offhand does not hold TNT. TNT in the offhand turns the pig into a bomb, which is not what you want when you are gathering food. An empty offhand or a shield is safe.

3. Walk up to any pig and attack it with the rocket like a normal melee hit.

4. The pig shoots straight up into the sky, trailing firework particles and smoke.

Collecting the Drops

• Watch the pig as it rises, reaches its peak and falls back down. Keep your eyes on it so you know where it lands.
• After the flight, the pig drops cooked porkchops. Walk over to the landing spot and pick them up.
• Choose open ground such as plains or a fenced field. Pigs that come down in water, lava or a deep ravine are much harder to collect from.

Tips

• Have the next pig lined up before you launch the current one. This makes it quick to work through a whole herd.
• Stand back from tall trees. A pig that comes down in the canopy can leave its drops somewhere awkward to reach.
• Cooked porkchops are a strong vanilla food, so a few launches can stock your hotbar for a long trip.
