Capturing and Releasing Mobs
The Mob Catcher Mod adds two handheld tools: the
Hostile Mob Catcher and the
Passive Mob Catcher. Each one is built for a different category of mob, so pick the tool that matches your target before you head out.
To capture a mob, use the appropriate catcher on it. The mob is stored inside the tool as a live creature rather than being killed or turned into a drop. To release it, use the catcher again, and the mob is placed back into the world.
Because the two tools are split by mob type, the
Hostile Mob Catcher handles aggressive mobs and the
Passive Mob Catcher handles peaceful ones. Using the wrong tool on a mob will not capture it.
This makes the catchers useful for relocating mobs, moving them into pens or farms, or clearing an area without harming what lives there. Since captured mobs stay alive inside the tool, you can carry them safely and set them down wherever you need them.
