Lava Sponge

Lava Sponge

The Lava Sponge is the basic block in this mod's lava-handling system. Like a regular sponge, it absorbs liquid on contact, but it is made to take in lava instead of water. Place it against or near lava and it will soak the lava up, storing it inside the block rather than letting it flow onward.

This gives you a simple way to clear lava from an area without buckets or large builds. Once a sponge has absorbed lava, it holds that lava in its stored state. The companion Hot Lava Sponge is the related block in this same process, so the two work together as the mod's sponge-based approach to lava.

Use the Lava Sponge when you want to remove lava from the world and keep it contained in the block. See the blocks and processes sections for how the two sponges relate.
