Hollow Artisan Decor Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I make a decorative workstation or bed?
Place the vanilla workstation or bed in any crafting grid together with an item frame, and you'll get the decorative version. This works for all vanilla job blocks, such as barrels, blast furnaces, cauldrons and grindstones, and for all sixteen bed colors.
Can I turn a decorative block back into the normal vanilla one?
Yes. Put the decorative block back into a crafting grid and it converts into its standard vanilla form, so you can switch back and forth whenever you like.
Will villagers take jobs from the fake workstations?
No. Decorative blocks have no villager job tracking or points of interest, so villagers never claim them or crowd around them. If villagers are still grabbing a job, the block is probably a real vanilla one. Use Inspection mode to check which blocks are actually decorative.
Can I sleep in a decorative bed or use it to set my spawn?
No. Decorative beds are furniture only, and neither players nor mobs can sleep in them. Keep a normal bed somewhere if you need to sleep or set your spawn.
Why can't I put items in my decorative barrel or furnace?
All decorative blocks have their inventories removed, so they can't store, smelt or brew anything. Right-clicking smokers and blast furnaces only toggles the burning fire texture. Convert the block back to vanilla in a crafting grid if you need it to work.
How do I fill a decorative cauldron or composter?
Just right-click them, no items needed. The cauldron cycles through empty, water, lava and powder snow, and the composter cycles through all nine compost fill levels.
What happens when I right-click the decorative lectern or brewing stand?
The lectern opens or closes its book without showing a reading screen. The brewing stand changes how many potion bottles it shows, from zero to three.
Does the decorative bell still ring?
Yes. It rings when you right-click it or hit it with an arrow, so it still works as a sound prop in town squares and docks.
Inspection mode isn't doing anything when I press a key. How do I turn it on?
Open Options, go to Controls, and assign a key to Inspection mode in the key binds menu. Then press that key in-game to outline every decorative block you've placed.
The Inspection mode outlines are hard to see. Can I make them thicker?
Yes. Raise the highlightLineWidth setting in the mod's config to thicken the outlines, or lower it if they're too bold.
