Freezing Enemies in Place with the Cryo Sword

The Cryo elemental diamond sword can apply the mod's Freeze status effect, which holds a hostile target in place. This is one of the most useful defensive tools in the mod.

Applying Freeze

1. Equip the Cryo sword and keep it in a slot you can reach instantly.

2. Strike the target you want to stop. When the mob is held in place, Freeze has been applied.

3. Watch how long the mob stays frozen before it moves again. This tells you how much time each freeze gives you in your own fights.

4. Strike again once it breaks free if you need to keep it locked down.

When to freeze

• Dangerous melee mobs: freeze anything charging at you, then back off or reposition.
• Crowds: freeze the nearest attacker so you can deal with the others one by one.
• Setting up reactions: after freezing a target, swap to another elemental sword and hit it. Combining elements triggers reactions, and a mob that is held still is much easier to land combos on.
• Escaping: if your health is low, freeze the closest threat and use the gap to eat, heal or retreat.

Freeze is a status effect on the mob, so check it the same way you would any vanilla effect. Watch the mob's behaviour and any particles around it, and re-apply the effect before it wears off when you need to keep control.
