Where and When to See Northern Lights, Sandstorms and Other Atmospheric Effects
Many of the mod's visual and weather effects only show up in certain places, weather or times of day. Use this checklist to find them.
Weather and Sky Effects
Colorful curtains of light appear in the sky. A vanilla clock helps here, and with this mod you can read it on your HUD while holding it.
- Desert sandstorms: Go to a desert during stormy weather.
- Nether dust rain: Enter the Nether and look for dust falling like rain.
- Distant thunder: Listen during storms for far-off rumbles.
- Water ripples: Stand near water while it's raining to see ripple particles form.
Fog, Particles and Ground Details
- Morning mist: Be outdoors early in the morning.
- Elevation and bedrock fog: Fog changes with your height. Climb high or dig down toward bedrock to see it.
- Biome fog: Fog varies as you move between biomes.
- Frost breath: Visit a cold area to see your breath.
- Fireflies: Watch for them while exploring the overworld.
- Magma steam: Look at magma blocks for rising steam and bubbling particles.
- Footprints: Walk across snow, sand or mud and turn around to see your tracks.
If an effect doesn't appear, check the conditions first. Most of them need the right biome, weather or time of day. Even when everything lines up, some effects may take a short while to show up.
