Securing and Decorating Your Home with Secret Bookcase, Saloon, Pet and Copper Doors

Cozy Homestead Essentials adds several door types, each suited to a different job. This guide covers where to use each one.

Hiding a vault behind a bookcase door

1. Dig or build the hidden room or vault first.

2. Line the wall facing your living space with bookshelves.

3. Place a secret bookcase door in the doorway so it blends in with the shelves around it.

4. Open and close it a few times. Then step back and check that it looks like part of the wall when shut.

Keep valuables behind it, and don't put a torch or path right in front of it, because those give away where it is.

Other doors for everyday use

• Saloon doors: These swing open and shut on their own as players walk through. Use them for kitchens, taverns or busy hallways where you are in and out a lot.
• Pet doors: These are small entrances for cats, dogs and other tiny mobs. Fit one into a main door's wall so pets can come and go while larger mobs cannot follow.
• Sliding wooden doors: These suit modern or Japanese-style builds where a hinged door looks out of place.
• Copper doors: These age over time. Let one weather if you like the aged look. Wax it once it reaches the stage you want so it stops changing.

For a full homestead, combine them: saloon doors for the kitchen, a pet door on the back wall, and a bookcase door guarding the storeroom.
