How to Make Bunk Beds, Joined Double Beds and Colored Blankets

Modular beds can be arranged in ways vanilla beds cannot. This is useful for shared bedrooms, villager housing and small builds.

Building a bunk bed

1. Craft two beds using matching parts. Only matching beds stack into a working bunk.

2. Place the first bed on the floor.

3. Place the second bed directly on top of the first.

4. Right-click each level to confirm that both bunks work for sleeping.

If the beds will not stack, check that every part on both beds is the same. A single different piece stops them from matching.

Joining beds and dyeing blankets

  • Join beds: Place two beds next to each other. Adjacent beds can be joined into one larger bed, which works well in a main bedroom.
  • Dye blankets: Blankets accept different colors. Recolor them to give each player their own color, or to match a room's palette, without rebuilding the bed.

Housing villagers

Villagers can claim and sleep in every new bed style, including bunk beds. To pack beds into a small village house:

1. Stack matching beds into bunks along one wall.

2. Leave enough room for villagers to walk up to each bed.

3. Watch at dusk to see villagers claim the beds and lie down.

Bunks let you fit twice as many villager beds into the same floor space. This helps when you are growing a breeding setup or a trading hall.
