How to Build a Custom Bed from Frame, Mattress, Cover and Blanket

Cozy Homestead Essentials replaces the one-step vanilla bed with a modular one. You build each bed from separate parts: a frame, a mattress, a cover and a blanket. The parts you combine decide the bed's look and its comfort tier.

Gathering and assembling the parts

1. Open your recipe book (or any recipe viewer you have installed) and search for the frame, mattress, cover and blanket pieces. The mod does not use a single bed recipe, so check each part separately.

2. Craft a frame first. It is the base the rest of the bed is built on.

3. Add a mattress, then a cover, then a blanket. Building in that order lets you check the bed at each stage.

4. Place the finished bed and right-click it to sleep, as with any vanilla bed.

Picking parts with purpose

  • Think about comfort before you craft. Every bed has one of four comfort tiers: Basic, Low, Normal or Deluxe. The tier changes how fast you fall asleep, whether your respawn point moves, and what happens when you wake up. Decide which tier you want before you spend materials.
  • Pick the blanket color last. You can dye blankets, so a plain blanket is fine for now. You can recolor it later to match the room.
  • Plan for bunks. To stack beds into a bunk bed later, the beds must match. Build both with the same parts from the start.

Once your first bed is placed, test it during a night to see how quickly sleep completes.
