Bountiful Ocean Harvest Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need any other mods for Bountiful Ocean Harvest to work?
You need Tide installed as the core fishing system. Bountiful Ocean Harvest adds compatibility between Tide and fish from other mods, so it works best when you also have mods like Alex's Mobs, Aquaculture, BetterEnd, or Upgrade Aquatic installed—but it functions with any mod that adds aquatic creatures.
How do I start using this mod?
Once installed, simply fish normally using a fishing rod in any water biome. The mod automatically registers modded fish into Tide's system, so you'll catch new species right away and see them logged in your Fishing Journal.
What's the Fishing Journal and how do I use it?
The Fishing Journal is an in-game book that records every aquatic creature you catch. Open it to view detailed pages about each species you've discovered, including which biomes they spawn in and their rarity.
Can I put modded fish into buckets?
Yes, most fish species supported by this mod can be scooped into water buckets, letting you transport and store them like vanilla fish. Use a water bucket on a caught fish to collect it.
Where do I find the best loot while fishing?
Different biomes have custom loot tables: rivers yield treasures like clams, deep oceans have rare ocean loot, and underwater caves contain special rewards. The Unusual Catch enchantment on your fishing rod increases rare finds in caves and oceans.
What does the Unusual Catch enchantment do?
This enchantment increases your chances of catching rare and unusual creatures in ocean and cave biomes. It works with the mod's custom loot tables to unlock special biome-specific catches you wouldn't find normally.
Do I need to set up loot tables manually?
No, the mod handles all loot table setup automatically. Custom treasure and junk loot are already configured for rivers, deep oceans, and caves without any extra configuration needed.
Will this mod work on a multiplayer server?
Yes, install it on both the server and client. All players will see the same registered fish species and Fishing Journal entries across the world.
What happens if I uninstall a mod that this adds fish from?
Those fish will no longer spawn or be catchable, and their Fishing Journal entries may show as unavailable. Your existing journal data is preserved, but you won't encounter those species until you reinstall the mod.
Does this mod affect performance?
The mod is lightweight and only adds fishing compatibility without changing world generation or adding new blocks. Performance impact is minimal, though having many other mods with aquatic creatures will increase the variety of fish you can catch.
