Determine if You Need Archivist Mod Installed

Check Your Mod Dependencies

Archivist Mod is a library mod—it doesn't add gameplay content by itself. You only need it if another mod requires it to function.

How to Tell

1. Read mod descriptions before installing. If a mod lists Archivist as a dependency, you must install it.

2. Check error logs when launching Minecraft. If a mod fails to load and mentions missing Archivist, install it.

3. Look at mod files. Mod pages on CurseForge or Modrinth will list required dependencies clearly.

Installation Location

Place Archivist in your mods folder alongside other mods. It works on both single-player and multiplayer servers—if a mod needs it, install it on the same side (client or server) where that mod runs.

What Happens Without It

If a dependent mod can't find Archivist, that mod won't load. You'll see error messages in your launcher log. Simply installing Archivist will resolve the issue.

Don't install Archivist unless something specifically requires it—it serves no purpose on its own and only adds unnecessary file overhead.
