Why This Mod Helps With Performance

In vanilla Minecraft, leaves enter a gradual decay state after their logs are removed. Each decaying leaf schedules ticks, checks for nearby logs, and eventually disappears over time. In a large forest, hundreds of leaves doing this at once creates a steady stream of block updates that both the client and server have to process.

Accelerated Decay skips that process entirely. The instant the last log of a tree is broken, the connected leaves are removed in one batch instead of ticking down individually. That removes the gradual decay workload.

Practical Clear-Cutting Tips

  • Harvest whole trees rather than leaving trunks behind. A leftover log keeps the canopy alive and prevents the instant removal.
  • Work tree by tree instead of scattering partial cuts across many trees, so each canopy clears as a single event.
  • On a server, this matters most when several players are logging at once, since the mod removes the shared tick cost of many leaves decaying simultaneously.
  • If you use other tree-felling or vein-miner style tools, the mod still triggers on the final log, so the canopy clears as soon as that block is gone.

The result is less stutter and fewer block-update spikes during heavy logging sessions.
