Check the recipe type first
Every slab, stair and wall in this mod comes from one of two recipe types: crafting_shaped or stonecutting. If the block you want to convert is a stone-family block, use a Stonecutter. If it is a wood, wool, glass, concrete or terracotta block, use a 
Crafting Table.
Stonecutter route
Place a Stonecutter and put the source block in the input slot. Pick the output you want from the list. This works for:
Basalt Slab, 
Basalt Stairs, 
Basalt Wall, 
Basalt Trapdoor, 
Basalt Gate
Blackstone Gate, 
Blackstone Trapdoor, 
Blackstone Brick Fence Gate,

Match the source block to its family: Concrete to Concrete, Glass to Glass, Terracotta to Terracotta, Wool to Wool. Do not mix families.
