Prepare Before Leaving the Base

The coral reef is close by, but underwater exploration requires preparation to avoid drowning and hostile mobs.

Step 1: Craft or gather a water breathing potion, or bring a helmet enchanted with Respiration to extend your underwater time.

Step 2: Equip a sword and pickaxe. The pickaxe lets you harvest coral and other reef blocks; the sword protects you from drowned mobs.

Step 3: Bring torches or glow stones to mark your path back to the base entrance.

Explore Efficiently

Swim out from your boat dock and follow the reef structure. Collect coral, sea grass, and other decorative blocks. If your air runs low, return to the base immediately—don't risk drowning. Mark dangerous areas with torches so you remember where hostile mobs spawn.
