Beacon

The Beacon is a rare item that players make by crafting together glass, a nether star, and obsidian. It stacks up to 64, and placing it puts down a block of the same name.

Players craft Beacons to set them down as blocks in the world. Because the recipe calls for a nether star, each one marks a notable step beyond basic crafting.
