Firing the Stab Shot Without Blowing Yourself Up
The Stab Shot triggers an enormous blast that destroys terrain and kills mobs in its impact radius. The weapon cannot tell you apart from your enemies, so plan before you fire.
Before You Fire
- Check what is nearby. Look around the target for your base, farms, animals, villagers or anything else you want to keep. The explosion will wreck it.
- Gear up. Wear your best armor. Blast Protection enchantments are the vanilla way to reduce explosion damage.
- Pick a distant target. Aim at a point well away from where you stand. A target right next to you puts you inside the blast.
- Plan an escape route. Know which way you will run, and make sure the path is clear of mobs and holes.
Firing Sequence
1. Hold the Stab Shot in your main hand.
2. Aim your crosshair at the spot or mob you want to strike.
3. Activate the item with the use button, the same way you would cast a fishing rod.
4. Immediately retreat to a safe distance before the strike lands. Sprinting away is better than standing to watch.
5. Once the blast settles, return carefully. The crater may be deep, and falling into it can hurt.
The item is used up after one strike. Have another ready if the first one does not finish the job.
