Cobblemon Move Effects Backport Forge Fabric Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I know if the animated moves are actually working in my battles?
Load into a battle and use one of the featured moves like Flamethrower, Hydro Pump, or Thunderbolt—you should see bright particles shoot from your Pokémon toward the opponent and hear custom sound effects. If you see no particles or hear only default sounds, check that the mod is enabled in your mod loader and that you're using a supported Cobblemon version.
Why do some of my moves still look plain without animations?
This mod only animates 116 specific moves; moves not in that list will keep their default appearance. Check the Popular Animated Moves section in the mod description to see which attacks are included—if your move isn't listed, it won't have custom effects.
Do I need this mod on the server, the client, or both?
This mod should be installed on the client side only; it changes how battle animations display visually without affecting game logic or fairness. Your server does not need it, but all players who want to see the animations must have it installed locally.
Can I use this mod with older Pokémon models and still see the animations?
Yes—the mod is specifically designed to rework move animations so they work with older model limits by adjusting how attacks aim and where they originate from your Pokémon's body.
What does 'shoots attacks from three main spots' mean?
Moves can now originate from different parts of your Pokémon—like their feet, body, or mouth—so attacks look natural and fit the older model structure instead of all coming from the same point.
Will this mod slow down my game or cause lag during battles?
The mod adds particles and sounds but is optimized for older game versions; if you experience lag, try reducing particle settings in your Minecraft video options or disabling custom sounds in the mod's configuration if available.
Does this mod work with Forge, Fabric, or both?
The mod name indicates it supports both Forge and Fabric, so you can use it with either mod loader depending on your setup.
Can I turn off the particles or sounds if they're too distracting?
Check your Minecraft particle settings and sound volume controls; depending on the mod's configuration options, you may also be able to customize effects through a config file or in-game menu.
Why do fire, water, and electric moves look different from each other?
The mod recolors and updates each move to match its type—fire attacks use warm particles, water attacks use blue, electric attacks use yellow—so you can instantly tell what type of move is being used in battle.
Is this mod compatible with other Cobblemon mods or cosmetic packs?
This mod focuses on move animations and should work alongside most other Cobblemon additions, but if you have conflicts with other animation or particle mods, try disabling one to identify the cause.
