Build an Effective Layered Armor Set
Choosing Your Base Layer
Start by selecting a base armor piece that matches your combat style.
Gambeson provides resistance to bludgeoning damage, making it ideal against hammers and maces. Chainmail resists slashing attacks from swords and axes. Consider the enemies you'll face most often and pick accordingly.
Adding Outer Layers
Once you've equipped your base layer, craft or obtain plate or
brigandine outer pieces. These attach to your base armor to increase overall defense. Plate armor offers superior protection but increases stamina consumption during movement. Brigandine provides a middle ground between defense and mobility.
Managing Stamina Cost
Remember that heavier layered armor drains more stamina when you sprint or jump. Test your setup in low-risk situations first. If you find yourself running out of stamina too quickly during fights, consider using lighter outer pieces or removing some layers for mobility-focused combat.
Equipping Your Set
Place all armor pieces in your standard armor slots. Your character will visually display the complete layered appearance. Adjust your loadout between expeditions based on the threats you expect to encounter.
