Set up a multi-tank liquid storage system

Plan your storage capacity

Iron Tanks come in multiple tiers, each with different storage capacities. Start with basic Iron Tanks for general storage, then upgrade to Copper, Silver, or Gold tanks as your needs grow. Higher-tier tanks hold significantly more liquid, so plan which tanks suit your production rates.

Connect tanks with pipes

Iron Tanks are fully compatible with BuildCraft pipes and ThermalDynamics tubes. Place your tanks in a line or grid, then connect them using liquid pipes. Attach a pump or use gravity-fed systems to move liquids between tanks.

Automate input and output

Use BuildCraft pipe gates or ThermalDynamics servos to control which liquids enter which tanks. Set up separate tank chains for different liquids—one for oil, one for fuel, one for water—to prevent mixing. This keeps your storage organized and makes it easier to route liquids to machines that need them.

Monitor levels

Place tanks where you can see them easily, or use pipes with transparent sections so you can visually check liquid levels at a glance.
