Sorting Hoppers and Other Specialized Containers
Why Hoppers Behave Differently
Hoppers are not just storage — they have a direction and they pull or push items on their own. The mod is aware of this and tries to respect slot rules like canExtract and isItemValid. That means it will avoid rearranging slots that are locked down, so sorting a hopper will not break its automation behavior.
Sorting a Hopper
1. Open the hopper's interface (for example, by right-clicking it, or by viewing it through whatever method your setup uses).
2. Hover over the hopper's slots.
3. Press the middle mouse button to sort.
4. The items inside are grouped by registry name and ordered from highest to least count, just like a chest.
Using the Scroll Wheel on Hoppers
1. With the hopper open alongside your inventory, hover over a slot.
2. Scroll toward the other inventory to move a single item across.
3. This lets you feed a hopper one item at a time, which is handy when you want a slow, controlled input rather than a full stack.
Cautions
- Sorting a hopper does not change its facing or its redstone state; only the contents of its slots are rearranged.
- If a slot is marked as extract-only or rejects a particular item, the mod leaves it alone. Do not expect every slot to shuffle.
- The mod works with "all containers (and maybe too many)," so if a block has an inventory interface, sorting will likely work on it.
