How to Tell a Trap From a Decoration in Integrated Villages

Because Integrated Villages pulls decorations from Supplementaries, Quark, and other mods, ordinary-looking props can be wired to traps. Learning the tells saves you a lot of respawns.

Visual Red Flags

Scan for these before stepping into any room:

  • Pressure plates, tripwire hooks, or tripwire string that do not match the floor material.
  • Redstone dust or repeaters partially hidden under carpets or slabs.
  • Dispensers or droppers embedded in walls, especially facing a doorway or chest.
  • Item frames, pots, or jars placed at odd angles or floating slightly off a wall.
  • Doors that are already open when every other door in the house is closed.

Safe Testing Routine

Do not walk through the doorway. Instead, break a side wall block with a cheap tool and enter from an unexpected angle, or place a throwaway block on the floor and step on it from a distance using a piston or water flow. If you have a bucket, pour water across the threshold — flowing water often reveals hidden tripwire and pressure plates by triggering or washing them.

When You Find a Trap

Disarm rather than dodge. Break the pressure plate or cut the tripwire string with shears, then mine the redstone line back to its source. Only then loot the room. If a trap is clearly part of a puzzle rather than a hazard, leave it intact and come back with better gear.
