Optimizing Food and Hunger

Reduced Stack Sizes

Food items now stack to smaller quantities than vanilla Minecraft. This means you cannot carry as much food in a single inventory slot, requiring more strategic planning for longer expeditions. Prioritize high-nutrition foods and bring multiple stacks.

Choosing Efficient Foods

Focus on foods that restore significant hunger per item. Meat from animals is generally more efficient than crops, but bonemeal no longer accelerates crop growth as effectively, making farming slower. Plan your food sources accordingly.

Managing Hunger on Expeditions

Before leaving your base for mining or exploration, calculate how much food you'll need based on your journey's expected length. The reduced stack sizes mean you'll need to dedicate more inventory space to food, so plan your gear loadout carefully.

Balancing Hunger and Tiredness

Remember that hunger and tiredness are separate mechanics. You can be well-fed but exhausted, or rested but hungry. Manage both to maintain peak survival performance.
